Less is More -Flags

Good Afternoon from a very wet and miserable Shetland, we are certainly not having a summer here.  I have two cards today for this week's Less is More Challenge - Colours of you Nation's Flag.  First off I have to apologise to Mandi for bothering her with a stupid question, I must learn to read things thoroughly before jumping in with my two left feet!  I almost failed my driving theory test because I didn't read the questions properly.

On to my cards, I am English but have lived longer in Scotland than I have in England and I am married to a Scotsman, so I have gone with the Scottish Flag of  Blue and White.  When I finished it I didn't think the blue was dark enough to represent the Saltire, but as it's the right blue for our Shetland Flag I am still posting it.  The images on both cards are from Fantastic Florals Unmounted Plate from Chocolate Baroque.  For this card  I used the resist technique by stamping and embossing with white embossing powder and then using cut and dry foam I added the blue using DI Faded Jeans and Adirondack Stonewash, the sentiment is printed directly to the card.

For the second card I stamped another of the stamps with Versamark and embossed with white ep, had a few probs with this one, because I was working in artificial light on pearlised card and ended up with lots of white speckles.  I got there in the end.  The sentiment was also stamped and embossed with white ep.

Many thanks for visiting today and I hope you like my cards and thank you in advance for any comments you may wish to make.

  14. I think there are several other LIMettes who look at the pictures rather than reading the text Beryl...I'm glad you got it sorted in the end!
These are two lovely cards... I understood that the cross of St Andrew arose from him seeing a white cross in the blue sky... so I'm sure the blue you used is just fine!
    Super work!
    Thanks so much

  21. Stunning cards. I am very impressed with the resist technique- it's not something I've ever had much luck with. I think I should try it with distress inks- might be better off.

  22. Hi Beryl

I am catching up at last.

You have made two gorgeous cards here .. I love them both.

I think embossing can always be a bit tricky and to emboss on dark pearlised card .. .. even trickier .. .. but you have done a fantastic job!!

Hope you have a good week.

    Love Jules xx
