Friday Sketchers

My card today is for Friday Sketchers No.43 and I have used my first Sugar Nellie stamp. Which I coloured with watercolour pencils from Daler-Rowney. I have used a pale pink card from Papermania and the background paper also came from a new pad by Papermania, The Big One 'Temptations'. I have used the Swiss Dots embossing folder and also a cut & emboss set for the small circles, both from Cuttlebug. The number came from a Cuttlebug Alphabet. 3 in 1

My card today is for three challenges, Firstly for Sketch and Stash No.5, My Time to To Craft which this week is for Hats and finally for Rainbow Lady who gave us a recipe. White Card, One Stamp, Handmade Flower or Two, Ribbon, Peel Off Corners or Borders and the colours Red, Blue and Silver. I do hope Cynthia is feeling forgiving today because my hand made flowers aren't truly hand made, I couldn't find my punches, so I stamped the flowers onto shrink plastic, coloured and cut them. The stamp is an Elusive Images one which I got from the Graphicus Sale. I have coloured the lady with a mixture of Inktense pencils and Promarkers. The ribbon and peel off borders came from my craft box, the text is from a Woodware set and the papers are from the new craft magazine. Ruby Wedding

My Mum asked me to make this Bookatrix Card for my Aunt and Uncle who are celebrating their Ruby Wedding Anniversary this month. The original photo was very pale where it had been bleached by the sun - it was also taken from a distance to include a river. I scanned the pic into PSP and cropped it, then I played with different buttons and managed to get some of the colour restored and finally used the dropper tool to pick up the colour of Jane's outfit to make a frame. I printed it onto Safamat film from Letraset, this let me roll the card without disturbing the picture, the sentiment was done onto Safamet as well. The card is mounted onto Mars Stardream and gold card. I finished off with grosgrain ribbon, some sticky back pearls and two sprays of roses twisted together. One card, two challenges

Today's card is for two challenges: firstly Friday Sketchers and secondly Ooh-la-la Creations which is for stripes. The background paper I have had for ages I think it's DCWV. The image is from Elusive Images stamp plates as are the baseball boots, skateboard (shrink plastic) and the Cool Dude stamp. The name and numbers were stamped with a Papermania Alphabet set. I have coloured in using my Promarkers. The central panels are from a playing session I had a while ago with Moon Shadow Mists. Anniversary Card

Today's card is for the same customer that wanted yesterday's 18th Birthday card. This is for her parents' Wedding Anniversary and I have followed the sketch from My Time To Craft, but I think I have missed off a couple of embelishments - sorry - and I have just noticed that my alignment is out - oops customer didn't notice it tho :). The image and backing paper come from Joanna Sheen's Fashion Boutique. The base card and the Cuttlebugged card is Coral Stardream.

Variation on a theme

I have been asked to make another 18th Birthday card, and so I have used my Cute Companions Numbers again. Different recipient. This is for this week's Papertake Weekly Challenge which is a sketch. The backing papers come from the new cardmaking magazine again. The backing to the 18 and the name was made using Ranger Alcohol Inks, it blends in better with the backing papers better in real life, the camera seems to have drained the colour from the pink paper. Leftovers

Today's card is for Sketch Saturday, and I have made it using leftovers from my craft box. The stamp is one of Anita's that I picked up from a craft shop whilst on holiday last year, I am not sure where any of the other bits came from as they have been sitting in my box of offcuts and embellishments for ages. On a roll....at last!

Well, looks as if I found whatever it was missing and stopping me from making some cards. I actually made four cards last night, the two that I posted and another two for customers. This card today is for Sketch & Stash No4, and I am hoping it will qualify for Cute Card Thursday which is 'Signs of Spring' as I think the colours are springlike. I needed an 18th Birthday card for a customer and realised that I have only used one of my Cute Companions Tapestry Numbers and I used it on shrink plastic. While looking at them I decided they would look goood embossed in gold. The papers are what are left from the cards I made last night and they are the free ones from the new magazine. I managed to make 2 square cards and this one from just two sheets of it. I finished the card off with a couple of pink Flora Doodles, which pick up the pink in the patterned paper. Scenery

Well I've managed another card. This one is for Rainbow Lady's Challenge this week which is for 'a scene'. I had no idea what to do and then whilst browsing my stamps I found this one. I have never used it before and have had it for about six months. It is a stamp from Sparkle and Sprinkle, I think it is just called Scenery. I have tried my hand at distressing, this is the best of about 12 and I'm not really happy with this. I have used Copper Stardream and some gold and white paper that came in a bumper pack. Butterfly

Well, I've finally managed to do a challenge, the first one for over a week. This is for Friday Sketchers No.40. The papers are from the new magazine Creative Cardmaking. The stamp is from an Elusive Images Sheet. The flower and gems are from my stash and I have finished off with peel-off borders and text. I have just realised that the sentiment is squint and my matting and layering is not that good either, oh well, at least I have managed to complete a challenge. Oriental Fan

My card for today is for Rainbow Lady's Challenge. She wants us to use a fan on our cards in some form or other. I used Stardream Opal card which in real life is a beautiful buttery cream colour. The bookmark and fans come from one of the first stamp sheets I bought from Elusive Images (Glenda) I have stamped in Versamark and used a green Moon Glow ep, added a simple sentiment and a green tassel attached with a gold coloured brad. Willow

My card today is for the Sketch & Stash Challenge No.3. I have used my new - and first - Whiff of Joy stamp of Willow. I coloured her in with promarkers, but the pastel blue that I used for her trousers hasn't shown up very well. I scanned the card because the flash on the purple stardream card made all the colours scream at each other and not match. Apart from the image and the flowers everything else came from my odds and ends box. The flowers came from an unopened pack in one of my many embellishments boxes and I have no idea where or when I bought them. Hi, I have managed to make today's card fit four challenges. I have used some new paper from Papermania, which has hearts on stalks; some copper stardream card and copper brads, cuttlebugged flowers, gold holographic card and a Penny Black hedgie, which I have coloured with watercolour pencils. The challenges are Sketch Saturday; Cute Card Thursday - 'Metallica'; Papertake Weekly - 'Hearts and Flowers' and my first entry into the Penny Black Saturday Challenge which is for 'Romance'. Rainbow Lady meets Friday Sketchers

I have managed to get two challenges covered today with just the one card. The first is for Rainbow Lady's Challenge which is for a monotone card with one of the colours of the rainbow - as you can see I have picked violet this time, and the second is for Friday Sketchers. I really loved this sketch it is definitely a layout I will use again. I used the two colours of lilac from the stardream range and a piece of encaustic art that I was playing around with recently. The image is one of Glenda's faries from the Unicorn and Fairy stampsheets. I stamped her onto purple haze cosmic shimmer film and mounted her onto three nesties. Spots

Today's card is for the Tanda Teaser this week which is Seeing Spots. I used a backing paper from the new Papermania range and then cut some of the flowers from another sheet and layered them up making a very simple card from just a couple of sheets of backing paper - the layering doesn't really show in the photo. The idea for this came from the launch of Joanna Sheen's new CD Cottage Gardens. One of her DT made a card this way with one of the papers from the CD, it was Suzanne, and you can seen her card here. So thank you Suzanne for the idea and inspiration. If you haven't visited Suzanne's Blog you don't know what you're missing. Not only does she make fabulous cards , but she does some great tutorials and product write ups. Do pay her a visit you certainly will not be disappointed. Windows

Today's card is for Rainbow Lady's Challenge, which required windows on your creation. I was completely stumped until my neighbour came in and asked me to make her daughter a birthday card. Apparently, she loves purple - not that you would have guessed that would you! I got out my cd's and had a browse until I came upon this picture from the Joanna Sheen Pamela West cd. I used my oval nesties to cut out the centres of the smaller photos and layered them up pyramid style. The backing paper came from a special offer promotion from Crafter's Companion ages ago. I mounted the main image onto some purple holographic card and pale lilac stardream. I didn't have enough of the white and silver organza ribbon to do much with, so I tied it into a loose double knot and then glued the ribbon roses onto it. I edged the paper with peel off borders which I coloured with those peel off pens, I did the same with her name. Valentine

Today's card hopefully fits the bill for two challenges. Firstly Cute Card Thursday which is for a Valentine's Card. The other challenge is for the new Sketch and Stash callenge which is to follow the sketch and use something new or neglected from your crafting stash on your card. The stamp comes from Elusive Images (Glenda) and her gorgeous Harlequin Rose stamp sheet, there are some fabulous stamps in this set. It's the very first time I have used any of these stamps, I coloured the rose with watercolour pencils, using them like crayons and then blended with a water brush. All the papers have come from my stash - it's surprising what you find when you open boxes and files for the first time in ages. I have no idea where any of it came from. A card for Elena

My card today is for Friday Sketchers No. 37. I needed a little girl card so I used this layout. It's a really great sketch. The card and paper came from my craft box and I have no idea where I got them from or even who the manufacturer is. I do know they have been wallowing in one of my many craft boxes for ages. The image is from one of the Woodware Clear Sets and coloured in with promarkers. I am also hoping that I can use this card for My Time To Craft this week because they want 'A Little Bit of Sunshine' and the colours I have chosen remind me of a sunny day. Finally

Well, I've finally managed to make a card. I've started back by using the great sketch this week for Papertake Weekly. For the life of me I cannot remember where the co-ordinating papers came from. I have got a whole load of these 6 x 6 papers in lots of different colours and designs. They must be DCWV or Papermania. The stamp is from Elusive Images (Glenda) and I have embossed it with Halo Gold ep. Sorry the picture is a bit squint, it's the only way I could stop getting a flare off the sparkly ep and ribbon. I've Been Tagged

I have been tagged by Lorraine, and the rule is that I go to My Pictures, pick the 6th folder and then the 6th photo. I am the worst possible person in the world when it comes to cataloguing things and my photos are all over the place. My 6th folder happens to be my card pics and as you have seen almost all of my cards I went to the 7th folder and came up with this. It was taken at my youngest daughter's wedding in September 2000. Thank You All

Many thanks to you all for wishing me well. My back is beginning to settle and I managed to sit long enough today to make a card for a friend. I'm taking things slowly and will catch up with all your blogs before too long. Many thanks also for all the awards you have given me and I am sure you will appreciate it if I don't pass them on. I have been overwhelmed by the response from you all. When I first started my blog it was mainly to share my cards with my family, as they all live on the mainland; and to take part in some challenges. I never dreamt that I would make so many friends. Just a note

To let all of my blogging friends know that I won't be posting for a few days. My back is giving me h*** at the moment and I am more or less completely incompacitated. I know a lot of you have back problems and will understand. Thank you all for being my friends and I will be back blogging, crafting and keeping up with my forum pals asap. In the meantime I'm laying here with my laptop playing brain dead games, as my concentration levels are not too good. One for Two

Today's card is for two challenges. Firstly for the fanstastic sketch this week from Friday Sketchers. Secondly for Rainblow Lady's Challenge which is for Fashion. When it comes to fashion the only place for me to look is Joanna Sheen's Fashion Boutique. This is one of my favourites. The scroll on the sketch gave me the chance to use my lovely swirly scroll stamps that I discovered courtesy of Beryl, if you haven't seen her blog do take a look, you will not be disappointed. I used Stardream card - I think this one is Quarzt. I used the co-ordinating backing paper from the cd. I matted the image onto Gunmetal Silk Mirri, which I then mounted onto the same Stardream, where I had stamped the scrolls with Versafine's Smokey Grey. I added a couple of contrasting flowers from my stash, as I didn't have any that would co-ordinate with the colour sceme. I hope you like my interpretation of the sketch and my card in general. A second one for today

I got a phone call late last night from a friend who had forgotten her husband's birthday (!!!) which is tomorrow. Anyway I was going to make a card for the Papertake Weekly Challenge which is a fantastic sketch so I used that to make this card for her. The main backing paper is Papermania which I have had in my craft box for ages. I then used a silver semi-mirror card which I topped with the matching backing paper for the image which is from Joanna Sheens Jane Netley-Mayhew cd. I matted the image onto black card and then onto some gunmetal mirri silk card also from Joanna's shop. I used this for the central strip required for the sketch and also to put the sentiment on. I also cut out the dolphins and some of the sea to 3d the image which doesn't show up that well in the picture. Outer Space

My card today is for my DD, she is a Registered Childminder and one of her charges is going to be 5 next week and she asked me to make this. I used Crafters Companion Boys n Girls CD for the background paper and the insert. Then used the co-ordinating rubber stamps for the space man and rocket tethering them together with a bit of silver thread. I coloured in with Promarkers and added a few peel off stars and mounted it all onto lapiz stardream and silver mirri. I had a slight accident earlier this morning, I had two ep pots open and managed to put one of the powders into the wrong pot. I salvaged as much as I could but not all of it - so his name is embossed with a mixture of silver sparkle and baby blue sparkle. Of course now I see the effect created it wasn't an accident at all .... I did it on purpose lol. The number is one of the Cute Companions ones stamped onto shrink with blue Stazon. ATC

This is my first ever ATC and I have made it for the Ooh-la-la Creations Challenge which is 'Small is Beautiful'. The image is cut from a larger picture on Joanna Sheen's Victorian Companion cd and mounted onto lapiz stardream. I stamped the card with a soft blue script stamp which I think is an Aspects of Design one from The Stampman sorry it didn't scan very well. I finished it off with some very pale pearl gems which was one of the last things I bought from Lakeland before they stopped doing crafty stuff. Thank you very much for visiting my blog. Beryl x

Sketch Saturday

It's an awful day here in Shetland today - gale force winds and horizontal rain. This gave me the idea for this weeks Sketch Saturday's challenge No 33. The image and matching backing paper are from the Joanna Sheen CD featuring the work of Pamela West, who is a wonderful artist just take a look at her web site. There are also some wonderful examples of how the images can be used in the Gallery section on Joanna's site. Second Post For Today

I'm catching up with the challenges at last and here are another two that I have done today. The first one is for the new Sketch and Stash Challenge. For this card I have used some gorgeous blue silk mirri card from Joanna Sheen, some paper from my stash box which I think is Papermania and the image is from Joanna Sheen's Victorian Companion CD which is one that I keep coming back to time and time again. The embellishments are from my stash again, I think the flower was a cover gift from a craft mag ages ago.



My second card is for this week's Friday Sketchers. I needed a card for a man and once again I went back to Joanna Sheen's Victorian Companion CD for the image and the co-ordinating backing paper. I used Judikins sports ball cube from Stamp Addicts and used cricket balls instead of flowers, the backing card came from my off-cuts box and I have no idea where it came from, but it has the most gorgeous golden sheen I think it might be one of the newer stardream colours. Unfortunately I've haven't got any more of it. Thank you so much for visiting my blog and for the fantastic comments that you have been leaving. Quick Card

My card today is for the Tanda Teaser this week which is a Quick Card in a Quarter. in other words make a card in 15 minutes!!!! Anyway I managed it, didn't think I would tho. When sorting out my stash after Christmas I came across my Encaustic Art box which I bought about three years ago and put away as I couldn't get on with it. Recently I saw the most amazing exhibition of Encaustic pictures at our local hospital and was completely blown away by them, so I thought I might give it another go. I will never reach the standard of those pictures but have thoroughly enjoyed playing with the wax again. Many bits have ended up in the bin and a few others kept to possibly use as backgrounds. This is one of the bits that I saved, I cut it into two inch squares and mounted onto siver mirri. I added a couple of similarly coloured flowers to the centre, corner peel offs and sentiment. First Challenge for 2009

I've finally got around to making my first card of 2009. This is for Sketch Saturday's Sketch 32. The background paper came from my free papers through the Graphicus Guild I also punched the flowers from the same paper and added a little gem to each of them. I matched the card by scanning the paper into PSP and using the eye dropper to pick up one of the colours, then printed off a piece of thin card using that colour. I have teamed the image and the corners with a matching silk mirri card which I got from Joanna Sheen. The stamp is actually a Christmas Bauble, again from Graphicus, but with not using the top bit, it just looks like an ordinary round stamp. Happy New Year

Hi Folks,

I'm back and I hope you all had a great a Christmas and that Santa was good to you all, especially to your children and grandchildren.

I've finally got OH back to work - he always gets a two week break over the festive period and hogs the computer and generally gets under my feet so crafting is nigh impossible with him around. I shouldn't complain tho because his work schedule is quite hard - 8 or 10 hour shifts for 12 days and then a weekend off. So he really needs his two week break at the end of the year. I did pick up some cross stitching tho and thoroughly enjoyed it. I've not actually made anything cardwise yet but, have done my yearly crafting clear out today and worked out what new stuff I absolutely need and must have lol. I am now ready to get going properly and am looking forward to joining in with some challenges very soon.

Your blogs are always inspirational and your work is fantastic, which makes the award soooo special. Sorry for not being around

I was going to say that I didn't know where all the time has gone recently as it is ages since my last post. To be honest I do know where the time has gone - Christmas Card Making. Thought I was doing well last week, my cards were almost complete. Then, OH popped in from work last Thursday with an order from one of his colleagues. This order was for 20 cards, he wanted these cards asap because they were for his mother who lives on the mainland. I did it he collected them yesterday - not sure how especially as we went to the Company Do on Saturday night, it was OH's birthday on Sunday and we went out for lunch with friends. Mind you he never got a card and he didn't get a birthday present until today. I finally finished all my grandchildren's cards tonight and will be able to post Christmas tomorrow, Wednesday.

I now only have six commission cards left to make and as they are all local there is no pressure to catch the post, so I hope to be back on parade blogging quite soon. If I don't make it can I take this opportunity to wish you all a Happy and Joyful Christmas, Health and Happiness for the Coming Year. Friday Sketchers

My card today is for Friday Sketchers. The Papers are from Cardmakers Christmas Pad. The image is a Judikins stamp from Stamp Addicts. It can't be seen in the photo but I have used Kaleidoscope ep and it has turned the blue ink into some amazing colurs, especially when the light hits it. I hope you like it.

3 in 1

I've managed to fill three challenges with today's card. Arty Girlz and Tanda Teaser this week are both for 'Frames' and Cute Card Thursday requires 'Hearts' on the card. I needed an Anniversary card and used this image and backing paper from Joanna Sheen's Dancing With Shadows. I used Stardream Opal for the card and the frame which I cut with the largest scalloped Nestie, I used gold mirror card for the matting; the sheer organza ribbon came from Joanna Sheen. The hearts were red and I think they came as a cover gift on a cardmaking magazine. I used my Versamark pad on them and sprinkled on Halo ep from Sparkle and Sprinkle to make them gold and glittery. Been Busy

Hi, I've not been around for a couple of days because I have had some Christmas order to get finished. Yesterday I gave 20 cards to my friend who works at our local Health Centre. In less than two hours she rang and asked for some more because she had sold 15 and she was taking some specific orders to boot. So it looks like I will be making Christmas cards for a bit longer.

On to today's cards, I have been playing with flowersoft again and am quite pleased with the way it has worked out this time. I kept them simple, just matting and layering the images onto Tapestry card and finishing off with two ribbons. Ready Steady Craft Recipe

My card today is for the Papertake Weekly Challenge which is a Ready Steady Craft Recipe - one ribbon, two rectangles and three small round embellishments. I have used Joanna Sheen's Messy Rabbit for the image, and coloured him in with watercolour pencils. The papers are from the Cardmaker's Christmas Pack. The ribbon and the flowers are from Poppicrafts and the little gems are from my craft box. I'm not sure if I like this as I think it is a bit too green.
